LANCASTER DOCUMENTARY
documentary film highlighting the life of a closet space
YWCA 2025 -2026
Her Closet is an immersive film documentary that captures the process of creating an interactive installation inspired by childhood stories, personal belongings, and the passage of time. Developed through the YWCA’s Black Art Across Lancaster, also known as, the B.A.A.L program, the project received a $5,000 grant to support its creative vision. Presented at the Winter Visual Arts Center at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, the project highlights one of the YWCA’s core values: empowering women. Through storytelling, creative expression, Her Closet celebrates women’s experiences, growth, and the lasting impact of their journeys.

This film project invites viewers to reflect on the keepsakes that they hold onto and the memories attached to them. It asks: what is still in your closet today. What is something in your closet that you can’t bring yourself to get rid of and why? Through clothing, items, film, and storytelling. Her Closet explores how the things we keep can become reminders of who we were, who we are, and who were are becoming.
